Review: Love Like the Movies by Victoria Van Tiem

Title: Love Like the Movies

What's the Story?:

From Goodreads.com: "In this irresistible romantic romp, movie fanatic Kensington Shaw is thrown into love—Hollywood-style—when her gorgeous ex presents a series of big screen challenges to win back her heart.

What girl wouldn’t want to experience the Pretty Woman shopping scene? It’s number two on the list. Or, try the lift from Dirty Dancing? It’s number five. One list, ten romantic movie moments, and a handful of shenanigans later, Kenzi has to wonder . . . should she marry the man her family loves, or risk everything for a love like the movies?"

My Two Cents:

If you're looking for a book that gives you the warm fuzzies and you love romantic comedies, then this is the book for you. This book was really adorable and I know that it is one that I'm going to want to go back to again in the future. Kenzi isn't sure she wants what she has. She finally has a fiance that her family approves of but she isn't sure if she is just settling. When Shane, a guy who she dated for a very long time who subsequently cheated on her after college, reappears in her life, it only reiterates that Kenzi might just be settling. She starts working with Shane, who is trying to develop a restaurant/ theater based on romantic movies (movies that Kenzi loves) and craziness ensues. In order to get her vision for Shane's business, Shane makes Kenzi work through a list of her favorite romantic comedies and they have to recreate scenes from each of the movies. This is a truly fun book!

Kenzi was a fantastic romantic heroine. I fell for her so quickly. She felt really real to me and she was so endearing. All she wanted to do was to be able to find happiness on her own terms. It's hard to encapsulate everything that happened to her in this book because there is just so much but I really liked reading about how she grew throughout the book.

I love a good romantic comedy and this story was one in book form. I loved this cute story so much! It's funny and ridiculous and crazy and truly a treat for readers. This is the kind of book that you read when you want to laugh and cry. A mark of a really good book for me is one that will make me cry. It's quite hard to do! The ending of this book was so ridiculously cute that I cried! This is a great pick for when you're looking for a book to simply get lost in!
